The RAF Sculthorpe Heritage
Centre tells the stories of the 1st USAF Atomic base out side
of America and the only atomic USAF base in Norfolk. It was
the largest USAF base during the fifties, being on the front
line of the atomic deterrent against the Soviet Union for a
decade. At one point the base had over 10,000 personnel
stationed on base.

The 1953 Tidal Surge Heroes of Sculthorpe. The First Spy
Flight's Over the Soviet Union using American planes with RAF
crews and markings (Operation Jiu Jitsu) The"Atomic"
incident in 1958. The Flintlock exercises thought the 80s. Flight log book and flying helmet used in the first Anglo American spyflight, operation Jiu Jitsu.
Many items from the 67th SOS based at Mildenhall.
We now have both George Medals awarded to Reis Leming and Freeman Kilpatrick for Saving 45 people Respectively in the 1953 floods.
A display on Major General David Jones, First 47th BW commander from 1952 to 1955.
Jones was also a Doolittle raider and part of the escape committee in Stalag Luft III.
